Cheddy-buddy

Cheddy-Buddy Campaign

An awareness movement by Dr. Srinivasa Kishore to educate parents about pediatric surgical conditions — especially those hidden beneath the diaper — that need timely detection and care.

Why is this Campaign ?

Children can suffer from diseases which require surgery.  Many of these conditions require timely intervention to give the best outcomes. Hence the emphasis on early detection.

Diaper area (groin, external genitalia, perineum, buttocks and lower back) is unique. There are many surgically correctable congenital diseases which occur in this area and this is the area which is accessible but  commonly missed during routine examination.

This area can be missed because of the following reasons

  • Lack of awareness that this area can have many hidden correctable surgical diseases.
  • Too shy/ scared / embarrassing to examine this area in front the parents or attenders
  • Taboo associated with examining the genital area

The consequence of missing these diseases – late detection and poor surgical outcomes of these diseases. .

Hence this “Cheddy-Buddy” Campaign .

What does Cheddy-Buddy Mean ?

Cheddy – implying the area covered under Diaper

Buddy – Any caretaker – family physician/ Pediatrician / Pediatric Surgeon  Any family member like mother / father / grandparents

GOAL of Cheddy Buddy Campaign

To spread awareness about pediatric surgical congenital anomalies, early detection and timely intervention.

AIM of Cheddy Buddy Campaign
